Last Monday, I attended a friend's father's wake. Though he'd been in failing health, his death was sudden. I picked today's
tour poem,
"Proper Burial" by Patrick Theron Erickson, well before last Monday. Questioning whether there is netherworldly punishment "for the indecent things / we have done", it has new resonance after last Monday's reminder of mortality.
